In July 2019 I made my first trip in the United States. Where more to get my first impressions of the powerful United States than from Orlando in Florida? I could have preferred New York or Portland, but Orlando was. This is the place you come to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and an incredible tropical climate. Well, except in the wet station, when every afternoon they almost guarantee you.
Although these were going to be a vacation focused on theme parks, I still planned to take my camera everywhere. This is where the Fujifilm system enters itself. I took the X-T2, my reliable 23 mm f/2 and 56 mm f/1.2, as well as my last additions; 16 mm f/1.4 and 35 mm f/2 in my backpack. I found that the lens range is more than enough with my most used lens that ended up being 16 mm f/1.4. As soon as I set up the lens in my camera, I knew it was a special lens.
Some tips to think when you plan to take your camera to Orlando and, in particular, the thematic parks:
-
Less is more: for those who are not obsessed in some way with main lenses such as me, a zoom lens would have covered the full range offered by my four lenses reducing the weight and the need for a backpack. However, I do not care to bring some extra weight on my back and worth 16 mm f/1.4.
-
Outstanding resistance: Trust me, it is likely to need it. The rain can be seen absolutely during the wet station (correctly correlating with school holidays in England) and moisture is crazy.
On more adventurers, 56 mm f/1.2 would certainly change for 55-200 mm f/3.5-4.8, which is a bright lens. Therefore, the only thing I lack in my kit is now an ultra wide lens, although it is a problem for another day. I tried my hand in street photography inside the thematic parks, but it didn’t work at all. I was very aware of pointing my camera to other visitors, especially since these are Disney parks.
For those interested, all these shots were JPEG with my classic Chrome configuration unless it is black and white and then acros. I hope this blog post attracts Fujifilm users with families to see that it is equally good to capture family vacations and not only street scenes. He is not one who has written with SEO in mind, only one for purists who could discuss photography with me!
I have separated the parks in individual blog posts that I will link below and this publication will be for a mixture of my favorites and my ‘other’ photos that would normally not reach the website. This is your time to shine.
