Hotel Review: 25hours Hotel Copenhagen Indre By

[ad_1]

Looking for a hotel in Copenhagen with a prime location that’s cool and a little edgy? My review of 25hours Hotel Copenhagen Indre By will show you why this is the best hotel in Copenhagen; probably.

Every year around my birthday in August we try to plan a trip abroad and now as a family of four I really wanted to see if we could organize a city break. Newcastle Airport had recently added direct flights to Copenhagen with Norwegian Airlines, so it made sense to try the new route (approximately 1.5 hour flights) and finally visit the Danish capital.

Given that Elise only arrived in February 2025, we had still been relatively brave in heading to Cyprus for a week, although it was more of an all-inclusive family holiday. This time, however, we were ready to try a proper city break and Copenhagen seemed like the perfect destination; Easy walkable with a good mix of things to do with kids, great cafes and plenty of photo opportunities.

I’ll be sharing a lot more about our trip, but we’re here to talk about accommodation and possibly the best place to stay in Copenhagen; 25hours Hotel Copenhagen Indre By.

Hotel brand 25hours originated in Hamburg, Germany in 2003 and is now in 13 different locations (soon to be 14… Hello Sydney!) from Cologne to Dubai, Florence to Vienna and Jakarta to Paris. You should really check the full list of locations Since, if you are planning a trip, this hotel brand should top your list. Each hotel is completely unique, very stylish and will make you feel more than welcome no matter what.

I spent quite a bit of time researching interesting places to stay in Copenhagen and kept coming back to Hotel 25hours specifically in Indre By; the city center. The design of this hotel really caught my eye (I mean, tile floors, huge airy spaces, and cork walls in the rooms), although I couldn’t see much about how family-friendly it would be. However, I dug in and found the team extremely helpful and it ultimately ended up being one of the most family-friendly hotels we’ve ever stayed in, despite some cheeky areas of the hotel that we had to keep our eyes off of the little kids (more on that later, haha!).

Now, let’s go ahead and dive into my full review of the 25hours Hotel Copenhagen Indre By.

By way of disclosure, we stayed four nights at the 25hours Hotel Copenhagen Indre By in exchange for a blog post and social media coverage. As always, all opinions are entirely my own.

LOCATION

As I mentioned above, there are two 25-hour hotels in Copenhagen; one at Indre By and a new one at Paper Island. The location of Indre By was the one that attracted us the most, as the hotel is literally in the center of Copenhagen. Traveling with kids means we need to keep things simple; Routines at home can go out the window, but so can plans, schedules and any aspiration to leave the house without problems. In terms of location, we needed a place where you would be in the center of the action so that even if you end up leaving two hours late, it won’t matter as you don’t have to travel very far. If you needed to return to the room for anything; a third style of cardigan, a bottle or five minutes of peace then it’s literally not a problem.

To give you an idea of how well located this hotel is, I’ll tell you about some of our real-life experiences. The Round House is only a few seconds from the front of the hotel, as they both share the same plaza, although the entrance is on the other side, so it’s probably a minute at best. We could walk to Kongens Have (The King’s Garden) in less than 5 minutes taking into account the traffic lights and continue to The Little Mermaid through the Nyboder district and around the back of Kastellet in 30 minutes. It was 15 minutes to Nyhavn and 15 minutes to Tivoli Gardens. You get the idea: even with a double stroller and carrying everything else that comes with a family trip, there were no problems getting around Copenhagen. I think we climbed about 60,000 steps in the end, so we were obviously knackered, which meant it was even more important that we had a decent hotel to recharge our batteries.

THE HOTEL

The hotel itself is located in a building of impressive architecture dating back to the 19th century. Formerly a porcelain factory and part of the university, this hotel is completely unique and, probably as expected in such an old building, there are lots of stairs. It wasn’t until the last few days that we realized there was a small lift before the reception area, but heading up to our room on the third floor required careful carrying of the double stroller! Who needs the gym?

Before entering the hotel, you will be welcomed by the motto ‘we will never grow’ something that channeled the inner Lost Boy in me. The big doormat when you enter says ‘hello stranger’ and ‘goodbye friend’ when you leave and I can tell you that this hotel and I are now the best of friends.

First it was one of my favorite areas of the hotel; the Assembly Room, a large atrium with a central bar that serves cocktails, coffee and snacks. There are also flying dinosaurs, yes, really, and a real sex vending machine that we only saw when we were hanging out! It’s not very familiar, but we kept Evelyn well away! The NENI restaurant, where you can also have breakfast and dinner, is a beautiful greenhouse with industrial lighting and you will also find a vinyl room and even a library where you can relax with your favorite record or book.

The 25hours Hotel Copenhagen Indre By reminded me of a perfect combination of the Kimpton and Hoxton hotel brands; particularly the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester and the Hoxton Southwark in London.

If you have a little more time at the hotel or are done exploring for the day, head to the sauna or secret garden for the ultimate in relaxation.

ACCOMMODATION

There are 243 rooms at the hotel ranging from medium single to gigantic, featuring separate living and sleeping areas, a bathroom and space for an extra bed. We were in a large room on the third floor with views of the Round Tower and the square below. I had read some reviews about guests being disappointed with the size of the rooms, but we were actually pleasantly surprised with a king size bed big enough for two adults and our toddler and a travel crib on the side.

I loved the style of our room with its cork wall, a nod to the building’s (slightly) industrial past with exposed metalwork and really cool tiles in the shower. There’s a free minibar (although you have to ask the front desk for a refill), a Bluetooth speaker, and a duffel bag (to take with you), as well as all the usual amenities you’d expect in a hotel room. The hand filtered coffee was a really nice touch with a special blend of coffee beans exclusive to the hotel. Normally I’m not one to drink coffee without milk, but I was able to drink this and I loved it! As a parent, anything goes when you need that next caffeine fix.

One thing that was a little strange was the lighting situation, we couldn’t (even at check-out) determine which direction to turn the light switches to control the lights. If you visit it you will know what I mean. It was a game of guessing and waiting for the lights to go out so you could eventually get some sleep!

GENERAL THOUGHTS

I couldn’t be happier with our stay at Hotel 25hours in Copenhagen. I didn’t necessarily think it would be overly kid-friendly beforehand, but it worked really well and proved that you can definitely combine stays at high-end boutique hotels with the challenges of raising young children. One thing that really helped, and this was something that was provided to the gifted, was renting puzzles and other toys from Quiet vacation; It really saved us from resorting to screen time or Evelyn getting bored of the few toys we had packed! The scooter and double stroller we also rented made life so much easier too!

We should probably address the variety of reviews you can read on Google about this hotel; I couldn’t believe how many 1 star reviews were being left. Our experience was completely different than anything you would read in those reviews; Every member of staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect. Yes, there are stairs but there are also elevators and there were no problems. Even after a power outage that affected our room, the staff worked quickly to fix everything. You must remember that this is a unique and peculiar building; If you want something bland and boring, there are plenty of nondescript hotels that bring their identikit setups to the world. Of course, there is a time and a place for them, but you are in the center of Copenhagen and this is absolutely where you should stay.

As for other aspects of our stay, we really enjoyed it; Breakfast was relatively limited but had everything you could ask for and was of high quality (I ate a lot of sourdough, beet hummus and fresh meats and cheeses!) and the coffee was very good. There is a well-thought-out area with typewriters and the ability to write yourself or someone else a letter that the hotel will mail to you; We tried this, thinking it would create a special travel souvenir, but each of the typewriters had run out of ink, so it was more of an aesthetically pleasing corner of the hotel.

We will definitely stay at this hotel again when we return to Copenhagen as next time we may not need to fill our days with as much sightseeing as we did when we first visited and so we can enjoy the hotel itself more. Flat White is in the function room, put on a record and relax, head to the sauna and maybe enjoy some food and cocktails too; Everything without the children perhaps!

Overall, if you’re looking for the best place to stay in Copenhagen, you should put 25hours Hotel Copenhagen Indre By right at the top of your list.
