9 wonderful things to do in Byron Bay, New South Wales

[ad_1]

Byron Bay is a great coastal city on the coast of New South Wales that, of course, you will have heard. Perhaps it is not as bohemian as it was before, you will find impressive beaches, reliable surf places, luxury bars and restaurants, as well as meeting meeting places. This is my guide to the best things to do in Byron Bay.

Welcome to Byron Bay.

Byron Bay’s reputation precedes it clearly, but we discovered that it was really a great place to relax and find some peace during our failed attempt in Australia’s lap. However, it was not as “hippy” as I could have thought in advance; It was much colder than that. We fill our days to buy fresh products (too much passion fruit) in the farmers market, eating healthy and healthy brunches, drinking a beer or two in the afternoon before seeing that the surfer is doing its thing while the sun slid under the distant mountains. To be fair, at the end of our time in Byron Bay, I was walking barefoot. Don’t you tell you everything you need to know?

This famous city of the beach of New South Wales has much more than by the advanced Bohemian position, maybe it was once. There is still a lot of incense and crystals, but you will also find that in Gold Coast, but I discovered that Byron Bay was relatively luxurious with natural household items, high quality clothing stores and charming bars and restaurants. Of course, there are many shelters, this is still a backpacker for backpackers, but Byron Bay certainly attracts more these days.

We spent four days in Byron Bay, which we discovered that it was the perfect duration to tune in with the unique vibrations of Byron Bay, relax on the beach and live as if we were local. While you can, without a doubt, see the best of Byron Bay in two days, if you have the opportunity, I recommend you stay longer. Therefore, whether you are planning to stay for a while or want to see the most outstanding aspects as quickly as possible, this guide of the best things that can be done in Byron Bay will undoubtedly help to make the most of your time here.

Things to do in Byron Bay

The majority of the east of Australia – Lighthouse of Cape Byron

Probably the most popular thing in Byron Bay is to visit the easiest point of continental Australia in the Cape Byron Lighthouse. There is a demanding walk of 3.7 km from Byron Bay to the lighthouse or can risk in a parking lot at the top. Somehow we had incredibly fortunate luck to fit in our motorhome in a small parking lot and we did not have to pay the $ 10 for an hour rate, thanks to our annual pass of the National Park.

All this promontory offers beautiful views both along the main beach and to the south along the Playa de Esmarow. Honestly, I could have stayed here for hours soaking in the views, waiting for a grid of a dolphin or turtle in the shallow waters. If you visit between May and November, you can see humpback whales in its annual migration.

If you really want to bring things to a higher level, go to the bay of Cape Byron at dawn to be on the first on the east coast to catch it!

Byron Bay farmers market

Every Thursday morning, in Butler Street Reserve, you will find the Byron Bay farmers market and a delicious selection of stalls with tropical fruits, organic vegetables, coffee and freshly baked bread. We loved to roam for the positions seeing the locals support local producers and dream awake of how our life could be if we uproot everything to live here. If you are here on Thursday, you must visit the market; It is so relaxed that you will love it.

Brunch in Byron

Brunch and Byron are two words that go hand in hand. You can’t come to Byron Bay without experiencing his Brunch scene. After visiting Bali, it was clear to see where the Indonesians had inspired; Bryon Bay. If you are looking for nutritious milkshakes, vegan bowls, scalfed eggs or some last superfoods, Byron Bay has it covered. The best places in Byron Bay for Brunch have to be Combi, People, The upper store AND Three blue ducks on the farm.

Relax on the main beach

The main beach is fine, you guessed it, the main beach of Byron Bay, which means that it is undoubtedly the busiest with the most “underway.” Of course, there are prettier beaches, calmer beaches, but if you are looking for an experience of Byron Bay par excellence, pass the time on the main beach for a while, listen to the musicians while delivering the soundtrack to their afternoon before cooling in the ocean. Needless to say that we are in Australia after all, the main beach is still absolutely beautiful.

Have a beer or two

Ok, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a beer, but there are many excellent places in Byron Bay for a drink or two in the afternoon. We enjoy a cold one in the Beach Hotel (The closest you are going to reach the main beach), The balcony bar (for appropriate coastal house vibrations) and the Tree house in belonging (for cocktails and firewood pizza). Piedra and wood brewery I was on my list of places to visit for a route But we simply did not have the opportunity, even with a distance at the discovery parks camp in which we stay!

Look at surfers at sunset

This could be the best place to see the sunset from Byron Bay. The pass, just below the Cape Byron lighthouse, is a beach that faces the main beach; almost due to the west. The pass is also extremely popular for surfers thanks to its apparently a famous word on the right. Combine both and you have an epic night ahead. We cool on the beach watching the sun convert the sky of a pink with a cotton with experienced surfers that end their day with style. While the sun slides under the distant mountains, it returns to the city to take something and dinner.

Crystalbrook Byron dinner

Now, for a little luxury, something with which my wife and I could not do without a strict budget. Crystalbrook Bryon is an exceptional five -star spa resort located in the Byron Bay tropical jungle. While I would love to say that we were here, we could not justify the expense, but dinner at the Forest restaurant is the best. The food that is served here is as local as you can get; 80% of the ingredients are obtained on a three -hour trip from the restaurant. Whether you are looking to share some small dishes between you and your partner or prefer a bigger main dish each, there is something here for everyone. At that time, we share the sirloin in the bone and pay $ 18 for nuts and olives, but, of course, the menus change and I must say that the food offered now is seen in my street. There is still the big batter in the form of a 600 g bone rib eye to share for $ 115, but you will also find Bangalow Sweet Pors Schnitzel, roasted cauliflower and the fountain of seafood that smile more incredible (taking into account that I am not a large seafood ventilator) that has oysters, wild fish ceviche, failures, failures, bursts.

Visit the great prawn in Bellina

Around 30 minutes south of Byron Bay, outside a Bunnings store, there is another example of Australia’s strange obsession with great things. This is the great prawn in Bellina and only has to be photographed to add to his collection. There are many big things in Australia, but this was actually one of my favorites; Maybe as we were in a good mood about to drive the coast road to Byron Bay.

One -day trip

The hills beyond Byron Bay are the home of lovely cities that deserve a visit, either for a day or weekend excursion. The interior of Byron Bay was the first place in Australia that, despite the weather, reminded me of England with its lush green fields and rolling hills. Whether you are looking for impressive waterfalls (Minyon Falls), iconic Australian mountains (some of which will be amazed but no longer uploads), market cities (Bangalow) or a hippie town where cannabis is openly smoked (Nimbin), there really is something for all kinds of travelers. However, a quick word of warning on Nimbin. It works largely on the backpack route on the east coast of Australia, so we made a deviation specifically to see the city, but, to be honest, it was not worth it. They offered me much stronger drugs than cannabis almost immediately when entering the main street. I can see your appeal perhaps for some people, but it wasn’t for me!

Now that we have covered all that in my guide for the best things to do in Byron Bay, do you see why he classifies himself as one of the best places to visit in Australia? Byron Bay is much more luxurious than they may make me believe and I hope you surprise many more visitors in the coming years.
