Fujifilm 10-24 mm f/4 r Lens review: Wide is wonderful

[ad_1]

The Fujifilm of 10-24 mm f/4 r (the old man!) It is one of the most affordable and market quality wide angle zoom. He has taken some time, but now we are here with my 10-24 mm f/4 lens review of Fujifilm!

As with my long -awaited revision of the Fujifilm of 23 mm f/2, we will begin at the end and move back. I sold the fujifilm lens of 10-24 mm f/4 in 2019? After returning to the United Kingdom after ten glorious months of traveling through Australia and Southeast Asia. I possessed the lens for about three years and came with me absolutely everywhere for a good part of that time. Don’t ask me why the hell they have taken five years or so to write this review and share some of my favorite photos taken with the lens, but I am here now and that is all that matters!

I thought a lot about sharing my thoughts about the Fujifilm lens of 10-24 mm f/4 given the time it has passed since I used it, but it is still a lens that is grown when considering the lenses of great angle of Fujifilm for travel photography. You can collect this lens for a bargain in the used market, especially because there is a newer version that adds climate resistance, eliminates the OIS button dedicated and throw some weight.

Then, without further ado, we are going to immerse ourselves in my fujifilm lens review of 10-24 mm f/4.

Fujifilm 10-24 mm F/4 r Lens Review (Ancient)

My experience

When I first entered the world of Fujifilm, in 2017, I bought the Fujifilm lens of 10-24 mm f/4 also the Fujifilm of 23 mm f/2 and the Fujifilm 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 with a Fujifilm X-T2. These three lenses were my pride and joy for a good number of years and accompanied me for more than 16,000 km and nine months in Australia, followed by excursions in Bali, Singapore, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Bangkok.

While the 23 mm Fujifilm F/2 was my most used lens through my long trips, I loved shooting with the 10-24 mm f/4 Fujifilm and soon I developed an absolute love for the ultra width angle shootings. Whether it is architectural shots or urban landscapes, it allowed me to create some unique photos that I still look back now as some of my favorites. Even under the billions of Australian outback stars, the lens still shone and captured crazy images of the Milky Way. Yes, even AF/4! I even discovered that I often used it for daily ordinary shots to add something a bit different.

This version of the lens has no climate resistance, but as you can imagine, I have gone through deserts dusty, red and hot nights and the Monzón season in Southeast Asia and the lens fixed them absolutely well. I did not take too many risks to be fair, but I had no concerns about the lens that remained even after so long on the road; It is definitely very well built.

As I mentioned directly, I sold this lens in 2019 and used the funds to buy the Fujifilm 56 mm F/1.2 with a plan to work to become an independent photographer; Shoot more weddings and more portraits. Anyway, we did not plan to make a lot of trip, but, looking back, Covid-19 ended all our trips for a few years, so it definitely made sense to sell the lens when I did.

For me, the Fujifilm lens of 10-24 mm F/4 is perfect for travel photography if you want to incorporate ultra wide angle images. I rarely used the lens more than 10-16 mm, maybe 18 mm in a push. My wider lens is the Fujifilm 16 mm f/1.4 and I long for a return to much more wide and epic shots.

FOCAL LENGTH

The Fujifilm lens of 10-24 mm F/4 offers a focal length range that goes from ultra width to 10 mm (16 mm equivalent in the full frame) throughout the time through main focal lengths (14 mm, 16 mm and 18 mm) to a more standard frame (full-frame equivalent of 35 mm equivalent). This is a lens that will allow it to be extremely creative and is suitable for landscapes, trips (think of streets, urban landscapes and even food!) And photography of interior real estate.

For me, I immediately felt attracted by the focal length of ultra width for travel photography and I knew I had to take it with me through Australia and Southeast Asia.

F/4

A relative inconvenience of the Fujifilm lens of 10-24 mm f/4 is the opening f/4, which means that it is really not so good in little light, but, to combat that, it has an incorporated OI. I was able to go down to the slow seal speeds, approximately 1/20 second, and still be relatively acute and not too granulated photos (for example, in temples or at night without a tripod). That was also in the Fujifilm X-T2, so I can only imagine how stable the shot at slow shutter speeds with a camera that IBI has like the Fujifilm X-T5.

The F/4 opening remains in the entire focal range, which is positive and, if it triggers around f/5.6-f/8, may be sure that almost everything will be focused. Even AF/4 is still probable that keys an sharp image if you are shooting wide enough.

An inconvenience of this lens is that it has no opening marks, which can be a bit frustrating if you are used to simply look down and see how your camera is configured. The dial also revolves the complete circumference of the lens, so it is really impossible to establish and forget or return simply AF/4 from any other opening.

Image quality

If I have read any of my reviews before, you will know that I am not really the type of person who talks about all the technical aspects of image quality. I don’t have time to sit and study images about whether there is too much aberration and chromatic distortion, etc. Obviously I care about the image quality in terms of how an image is seen as a final result and I can say that this lens really produces impressive images. The color representation is beautiful as any Fujifilm lens is probably waiting.

In terms of Bokeh, this lens is not really designed for that, although you can still get some pleasant focus areas if you are shooting closely and your subject.

I really didn’t like to film this lens at the longest end of its focal range, since things really seemed to soften. For me, the image quality really began to degrade in 24 mm that I would not really recommend, certainly not above having a comparable primary lens. He will get you out of a sticky situation, let’s say if something is suddenly presented and does not have time to change glasses; If I even had that option. To be fair too, when I go through my old photos, I can see that there is no best edge of edge for edge, but I would still say that the image quality is good for excellent.

Alternative options

Here are some alternative options if you discover that this version of the Fujifilm 10-24 mm f/4 is not for you. If you are looking to cover the same focal range with main lenses (which come with faster openings, it will be smaller and offer better image quality), you will need enough. Since the focal length range covers some of the most popular focal distances for street photography and travel photography, I would recommend choosing an ultra wide and then combining it with 16 mm, 18 mm or 23 mm. I have the three focal distances and currently use the Fujifilm 18 mm f/1.4 more. However, in my opinion, a zoom is much more useful if you are looking for a convenient package of an advantage that covers the level of level to the most traditional focal lengths (with perhaps compensation in which traditional focal distances may not work as well as desire). On paper, I love the sigma appearance of 10-18 mm f/2.8, especially, since it covers the ultra width angles that I look for but it seems too plastic and still costs £ 649. If you look at the list of alternative options, the Fujifilm 10-24 mm f/4 (either the previous or new version) looks like such an excellent option, especially if you do not have the budget for the Fujifilm 8-16 mm F/2.8 Keep in mind that despite the price, that lens cannot adjust the standard filters if you plan to use them).

General thoughts

The Fujifilm of 10-24 mm F/4 is a wonderful lens and the perfect angle lens for travel photography. There are some defects that worry me, of course, but in the years since the lens left my camera bag, I still have to find a replacement for that ultra wide point of view that I love so much. I expected Fujifilm to launch an illusion of 10 mm f/2 prime, but recently I realized that in certain situations, traveling safely, a zoom lens is so beneficial and that is why I have moved away from the Fujifilm 8 mm f/3.5.

If you are looking for a decent-price wide-price angle lens and do not feel the need for weather resistance (although it is probably beneficial to be fair), then the Fujifilm 10-24 mm f/4 r could be for you. It is well built, of good size, produces excellent and unique images (especially between the ranges of 10-16 mm) and also has an incorporated OIS. Now I am torn whether to add this to my camera bag or save for the powerful Fujifilm 8-16 mm f/2.8.

Look at this space.
