Next to Fujifilm X-T5, I possibly collected the most acute lens I have had; The Fujifilm 18 mm f/1.4. After several months of solid use, it is time to establish my thoughts here in my revision of Fujifilm lenses 18 mm f/1.4.
Run in May 2021, the Fujifilm 18 mm F/1.4 was the first of the new and updated Fujifilm trilogy of ultra fast cousins and a lens that I have taken into account for a long time. The new 23 mm F/1.4 has not yet done enough to replace my old 23 mm readers f/1.4 Long term will know that I will never replace the Fujifilm 35 mm f/1.4; My favorite lens.
Before collecting the Fujifilm 18 mm f/1.4, my combination of lenses to travel/the photograph of life to the street/day by day was the Fujifilm of 16 mm f/1.4 together with the 35 mm f/1.4. These two lenses are exceptional and produce beautiful images, so it was a difficult decision to spend more money on such a close lens in focal length, but, let me tell you now, the Fujifilm 18 mm F/1.4 It is well worth it. This lens has become my standard daily visits lens, since it is much more versatile than 35 mm f/1.4, particularly when I take quick shots from my family in days out.
I have waited a long time to gather all my thoughts about this lens, since I wanted to make sure I could provide something worthwhile. After having filmed more than 2,500 images through my trips and in my ordinary life, as well as filming weddings with her as the main lens, I think now is the right time to share my thoughts and many images in my review of Lente Fujifilm 18 mm F/1.4 To show how good this lens is!
Fujifilm 18 mm F/1.4 Lenso review
18 mm F/2 was one of the three lenses initially launched by Fujifilm all over the road in 2012 and many fell in love with the lens despite their defects. The 18 mm focal distance (full 28 mm box) has been extremely popular with report/documentary style photographers, so you can imagine how exciting it was when Fujifilm announced a new version with an impressive f/1.4!
I did not go to the lens immediately to be just when it finally launched in May 2021. I have done well not to be too wrapped in marketing campaigns, which means that I never buy a new lens, so it is more likely to wait one or two years before collecting a second -hand copy if you feel good.
Fast advance until September 2022 and time felt correct when collecting the Fujifilm 18 mm f/1.4. It was worth the wait.
VERSATILITY
Directly, this is an extremely versatile main lens that is practically perfect for the photograph of ‘story narration’. The focal distance is quite wide, so you can really add to the frame even if you approach your subject. Obviously it is not as wide as the Fujifilm of 16 mm F/1.4, but there is something about the 18 mm focal distance that feels comforting. It can have something to do with the fact that this focal distance is the standard for smartphones these days. It also means that I can still absolutely nail those hand shots that appear so routinely on this site.
As I said before, I have used this lens when I traveled both at home and abroad, I have failed in a 365 photography challenge where this was the lens that I used mainly and I have filmed weddings and almost everything in my daily life, especially my family. If you are looking for a complete lens, and you are a main lover, this is the lens for you.
Other points
While the previous 18 mm incarnation was small, this version is completely the opposite: it is a fairly large lens, if not a bit elongated, if that is the right word. However, even with all that glass, the automatic approach is instant even with little light and completely silent. With climate resistance too, there is literally nothing to like this lens.
Image / Nitidity Quality
The quality of the image and the sharpness go hand in hand and I will enter the sharpness in a minute. Honestly, anything that has launched this lens that has handled magnificently. We hope you have a good idea of what this lens can produce through the images of the sample below, but the quality of the image really is crazy. It also completely resolves the 40MP sensor of the Fujifilm X-T5.
I have never been that someone strives for the most acute lens possible. I am more a photographer who is happy with a little less than perfect as long as the moment It is captured. However, once I tried this lens and found how sharp it is, I will always be excited about how much I love the sharpness. Jesus, some of my images are absolutely exploiting.
For example, let’s take this photo below that it was taken at a recent wedding that I took. It is late on September in England, in the middle of the wedding breakfast, when chaos occurs and almost all guests, including myself, are dancing a little. The lights are not great in the barn, but I am breaking when entering the rhythm of things and then boom in some way the gods of photography are on my side and capture the photo below that it has to be one of the most clear that I have taken, especially given the circumstances. For me, this photo is the perfect representation of why I love this lens; Turning to make the subject establish with a rapid automatic approach to capture those fleeting moments. Of course I have many excellent photographs taken with this lens, many of which I am sharing here (although not all, of course), but this is probably my favorite.
General thoughts
As you have seen, there is nothing wrong with this lens. It is fast, it is clear and produces impressive images. This is the perfect lens to combine with Fujifilm X-T5 and has essentially replaced the 16 mm Fujifilm F/1.4. I have barely used it since then, although I am not sure to get rid of that.
Recently I have collected the Fujifilm lens of 18-55 mm f/2.8-4 too, since it is something that really helps, but obviously and unexpectedly the 18 mm f/1.4 blows it from the water.
So, we wrap this before weighing more, the Fujifilm 18 mm f/1.4 is exceptional. Well done Fujifilm!
