In the streets: Osaka, Japan

[ad_1]

This is my visual guide for street photography in Osaka, the third largest city in Japan. From Dotonbori chaos to peaceful temples and almost everything else; If you are looking for an inspiration from Osaka, you will find it here.

In November 2024, our family went to Japan for a 15 -day excursion through the very beaten road from Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. I had always wanted to visit Japan, but, if I am sincere, it had been a dream pushed towards the bottom of my mind after Covid-19 and start a family. We had planned to visit around 2018 after Australia, but that never came to fruition.

As part of our trip, we spent only three nights in Osaka, which turned out to be a good time for an introduction to the city and an introduction to Japan in general. We only managed to see the ‘prominent aspects’, so it will undoubtedly recognize most of the shots after the mountains of Japan’s images on social networks these days. However, I really tried to implement my own type of style by capturing Osaka.

My series ‘On The Streets’ takes us through the world with short publications focused only on my unique travel and street photography style. The series will never be complete, but here is a look where I have covered so far:

Ok, now is the time for a virtual vagabundo through the streets of Osaka. This is my opinion about street photography in Osaka with the Fujifilm X-T5.

The details

As I explained before, we spent three nights in Osaka staying in the Mimaru osaka shinsaibashi this The hotel separately, which I found, was conveniently located to explore as many city as possible in such a short time.

I was instantly surprised by the photos offered in Japan. I know that it has probably been said a million times before, but there is something about light, architecture, calligraphy, almost everything that seems to be a great photograph. I found photos of publication boxes and vending machines; The things that are completely mundane at home suddenly became extraordinary.

From a personal point of view, he felt completely surreal by capturing photos of my little one in such an unique destination; He certainly did not travel to Japan at the age of 2. Evelyn can never remember the trip (although 4 months or so have passed and she still talks about it, remembering the smallest details with perfect precision), but we will always have these photos to show us and remind us in the future.

A warning, I have not managed to approach my photos of Japan, so I think about this as a collection of photos not completely complete of our time in Osaka. In addition, it was far from the family, so the images are really snapshot of our daily explorations instead of having time to focus specifically on photography. I will add more photos when I have the opportunity!

In the streets: Kyoto
In the streets: Tokyo

I have found in the last year more or less, especially when I travel with a little girl, I do not have time to continue changing glasses, so I try to continue with a zoom lens for most of the day unless I specifically leave on a photographic walk during which I will use my favorite cousin, the Fujifilm 35 mm f/1.4. The zoom lens that I used most during my time in Japan was actually the Fujifilm of 18-55 mm f/2.8-4, which is a large piece of kit. Our trip arrived just before the launch of the Mark 2 version of the Fujifilm 16-55 mm f/2.8 that I would probably have wanted to have with me if I had the opportunity.

You can find a detailed publication about everything I took to Japan right here!

All color shots are JPEG, practically directly from Fujifilm X-T5, with my classical negative recipe. I used raw + jpeg, which meant that I could turn each image into my acros recipe and see Japan into glorious black and white.
