With the arrival of Turtle Bay with River Wear, Durham has immediately increased his game. I love Durham, so it is great to see a national power that is created for Durham’s revival. With the additions of Riverwalk and the Milburngate under construction, Durham is the perfect place to visit. Not more admiring the beautiful city from a train window while passing to Newcastle or York.
For those who do not know, Turtle Bay is a Caribbean bar and restaurant that serves food for Soul along with its infamous 2 by 1 (not from 7pm to 9:30 pm/10pm on Fridays and Saturdays) cocktails. We are talking about idiot chicken, baby ribs, goat to curry and sweet banana, in addition to many options for vegetarians/vegans. I’ve been sometimes before when I lived in York, so I’m really excited that this is at my door.
I was very kindly invited to visit Turtle Bay before the official opening day and let me say that Turtle Bay knows how to organize a good party. They treated us with the real live music that really helped the atmosphere. From 8 pm, some of the tables were removed to give way to the dance floor.
Hello, if you are looking for more excellent places to eat in Durham, I have gathered a list of my favorites here!

The food in Turtle Bay
Where do we start with food? Everything we tried was incredible; It was a shame to share with others, since I could easily have eaten! This is what we try: Crispy squid from Chile, garlic shrimp, sweet corn fritters, shit well wings, bay chicken, baby ribs, curry goat, curry berbergine, spice fries, rice and banana. My favorites were undoubtedly the sweet corn fritters, the baby’s ribs and, surprisingly, the Curry goat and the banana! An honor mention must also go to desserts. I always chose an incoming on a dessert, but Turtle Bay’s desserts put a small doubt at the bottom of my mind. The banana toffee cheese cake was my choice of the group, as well as the vegan ice cream of vanilla!
The menu is extensive, so I’m sure you will certainly find something you will love. I will definitely try the fresh roti full of Jerk chicken, as well as one of the hamburgers.

DRINK
As one of the most authentic Caribbean restaurants in the United Kingdom, it would be nonsense that Turtle Bay does not include red stripe beer in the draft. Turtle Bay is not nonsense. I love the red line and help with that little escapism; Those first sips of a freshly discharged painting transport you directly to Jamaica.
Anyway, do not worry if you are not a beer drinker, there is a lot of alcohol with a wide variety of cocktails. I mentioned earlier that during the happy hour the cocktails are 2 for 1 (in the same cocktail), so there is no reason not to prove some different. My favorites were the rum corridor (white rum, liqueur of mooretto and banana, fresh lime, grapefruit and raspberry) and, most surprisingly, now I love coffee, Jamaican alarm (Tia Maria, vanilla, coconut milk and cold coffee).
The square bar is large and can be accessed from three different sides; Although I imagine that the tail can accumulate when you expect orders from cocktails. Definitely, that is something that I do not miss Coque-Covid: I am definitely one for table service. Turtle Bay’s attentive staff will definitely take care of him, someone was always available when we wanted something. Above, the fun continues in the D’Um room, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the cathedral on the balcony (Turtle Bay’s only restaurant with a balcony!) After you have managed to settle in one of the many, many rones that are offered.

Opening hours
Turtle Bay is not just a place where the party never seems to stop; Its opening schedules are:
As you can see, it is open early for breakfast and brunch, which means that it would not be rude to take advantage of the Breakfast Club or the bottomless brunch. I can easily see Turtle Bay become the place for the bottomless brunch; It even includes a red draft strip that is right in my street. However, Turtle Bay is not only marketed only in the ‘Drink/Night Output’ scene. I have said previously how good the food was, so I would easily recommend coming here only for a meal (there is also a menu for children). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, so you will feel welcome regardless of whether you are in an appointment, with friends or family. Turtle Bay is a brilliant and brilliant addition to Durham and for my part I can’t wait to return!
Check out Turtle Bay in Durham in his website, Facebook and Instagram. If you need more photos (which is not!) Keep moving down!

I was invited to Turtle Bay and received food and courtesy drink, however, all opinions are mine.
