Hotel review: Akara Hotel, Bangkok

[ad_1]

Almost three years have passed since our trips in Australia were interrupted (here is why!) But not all were bad news. It meant that we could spend a few months traveling through Southeast Asia with Bangkok being our last stop before returning to the delights of a United Kingdom after Brexit. After a lot of research, I finally decided to stay 6 nights at the Akara hotel in Bangkok before our last night spent at the Tower Club in Lebua (Hangover II). It has been a while, but finally the time has come to review this hotel.

Akara Hotel Bangkok

First, let’s present this hotel. We are talking about a five -star luxury hotel in the Ratchathewi district; east of the ancient city and north of the main commercial area. Everyone will have an opinion about Bangkok, but it is fair to say that this is a huge city. It is loud, is busy, is crazy, however, the Akara Hotel It was a welcome sanctuary and the perfect base to explore the city. While not necessarily focusing on TripAdvisor grades, the Akara Hotel It is the 23rd best hotel of a huge hotels of 1,417 in Bangkok. At that time (August 2018), the hotel was quite new with very few criticisms, so, as you can imagine, it was cautious, but I don’t need to worry at all.

Entering the Akara hotel after a flight from Chiang Mai, a train from the airport and a short walk through the streets of Bangkok was like entering the sky. Wood, marble, air conditioning. I immediately knew that we had chosen the right hotel; It was beautiful.

Just above the reception, at the mezzanine level, is the culinial library hall where you can sit in leather chairs and move a large collection of kitchen books. Unfortunately, although we lost this every day, they offer snacks and courtesy drinks between 2 pm and 5 pm

The room

If you want luxury at a good price, you could do a lot, much, worse than Akara Deluxe’s room. The room itself was very elegant keeping control with the rest of the hotel with wood and marble decoration and one of the most comfortable beds in which I have slept. However, the main attraction in this room is the bathroom; An impressive circular bath with floor by roof windows overlooking the Bangkok horizon.

We had a little bad luck that our room was not so high, so try to make a special request to be in one of the highest floors. Trying to relax bathing with those windows in front of the Skytrain was surely for some interesting views! I apologize now for anyone who saw more than they expected!

The hotel staff was more than happy to help also, although Emma had planned a little surprise for my birthday, which was initially forgotten. Emma apparently called the reception while in the shower and up to three staff members came immediately with a birthday cake for me. However, as I was in the shower, I can only imagine that there was a wrong identity case, since the three staff members sang an extended version of Happy Birthday to Emma while filming on their mobile phones. Not wanting to be rude, Emma had to play and thank them for remembering …

The roof at the Akara hotel

This is where magic happens; Definitely the coronation feature of the Akara hotel. An infinite pool on the roof with a view to Bangkok is the perfect way to cool off in that humid heat of the city. We could have stayed in that pool during the six days if Bangkok simply does not beg you to explore. If you upload a higher level, there is a really great bar that unfortunately did not have the opportunity to enjoy since we couldn’t stop exploring!

Transport links

As I mentioned earlier, Bangkok is huge. Fortunately, at least in modern areas, transport links are really impressive. The British think that we are one of the best countries in the world, but the reality is that, when you come to cities like Bangkok, we are far behind!

Anyway, the Akara hotel is just five minutes walk from the Ratchaproprop station, which will take it directly to the OA airport the Thai Phaya station (a west stop) where you can continue its train trip through Bangkok. If the train is not theirs (it should be, it is cheap and the best way to avoid traffic), then from the Akara hotel you can walk only a few km to the south to the commercial district with the shopping centers of the central world, Paragon, Siam Square and the MBK center. Finally, if walking is not yours, ask at the reception and you can take advantage of the free Tuk Tuk Tuk service.

Price

This is where you will be surprised. For one of the best Bangkok hotels, it is almost certain that it will pay less than £ 100 per night for a room here. Using Booking.com, if it is a genius member (I am Level 1), you can expect to pay a price around £ 61 through a upper king and £ 86 room for a King Deluxe room that includes breakfast (obviously depends on availability, reserve time, etc.). Isn’t it amazing?

The Akara Hotel in Bangkok is definitely one of the best hotels you will find in this city. I can’t emphasize how much you need (for those who travel a little more luxurious) a quiet hotel to return after a maniac day exploring Bangkok. If I were you, I would not look for the Akara hotel for your stay in Bangkok.

“One night in Bangkok and the world is your oyster.”
