Only a few weeks ago I sat down and wrote about Durham’s best bars and pubs. However, with the opening of the popular bar revolution in Durham, I think it’s time to update that publication! I just opened, but I would classify it as the place for food and drink in the city.
Last week they invited me to visit Revolution in Durham before launch on Friday. I could try enough drinks and cocktails, as well as food. While all this was provided for free, my opinions in this article will be completely honest.
If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that I love extravagant bars, microcervery and virtually anything with an industrial sensation. While it can be a chain, the Durham revolution is presented as a very cozy and cozy bar with bare brick walls and huge leather sofas. However, above is where the place really comes alive. There is a huge outdoor bar with a retracting roof for those warm summer nights together with possibly the best view of Durham Castle. This is definitely my type of place!
What I like most about this bar is that drinks are not only good, food is exceptional. With restaurant or bars chains, food can sometimes be a bit disappointing. Especially when the bar really focuses on drinking. With Revolution, drinks are not only bright, food even better. I tried much of the food and my most outstanding aspects would definitely be the honey and mustard sausages (actually incredible), as well as the Nachos! There is nothing better than a few drinks in the afternoon followed by a table full of plates to share! Well, apart from hamburgers maybe. Plan to return to try the smoke hamburger that is served under a real smoke dome! In comparison, once the night arrives, this will become the place to celebrate, especially because it is open until 2 am not having to suffer the same old nights in Wetherspoons or players in Walkergate. Although the revolution has opened on the quiet side of the river, there is no reason not to venture! This is already the place to go to Durham and will remain popular once the Riverwalk ends!
Whether you want to learn to make cocktails (a classic choice of bachelorette party), take a quiet afternoon with a good meal or drink too much and dance all night, you will not feel disappointed!
PS: There are more photos below!
Thanks to Revolution for inviting me to try food and drink before launch last week.
