Yes, I turned executive class with Etihad

Do you know when I said that drinks in a roof bar with a view to Bangkok were the perfect way to finish our trips? Well, I was wrong. The perfect way to finish our trips was flying the executive class with Etihad!

I am not sure how I have remained silent on social networks, since it was possibly one of the best experiences in history. You are probably thinking: “How the hell did they allow it? I thought they lost all their money in the outback?” I will get to that. So, as most of my readers will know, our ten months of travel came to an end a few weeks ago. After leaving the Tower Club in Lebua around 5:30 am, we took a taxi and then a train directly to the airport. I can’t even describe feelings when reality sank; We were climbing a plane to take us back to England.

Our trip was divided into two flights. The first, Bangkok to Abu Dhabi, would take around seven hours, while the second flight to Heathrow would take around nine o’clock. The plan was then to catch a Heathrow tube to London Kings Cross and then a train from London to Newark to Lincoln. We also reserve economy tickets, so we were not really eager to return, tired and tied, and having to navigate the old transport network of England.

Bangkok A Abu Dhabi

We recorded ourselves as normal at the Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok and we received, as expected, in the pass of our economy. There was nothing to indicate any possibility of an update, especially not free. There was no change for the first flight and, being this oldest of the two planes, I probably glad I had not been updated. We had to go through the executive class area that simply cut off the rest of the plane. Fortunately, we had no one by our side, so it meant that we could extend through the three seats. They were not the most comfortable, but we just woke up, so we had no plans to sleep! Seven hours of movies and music sounded good. In the economy, chicken and rice served us and a frozen half -bread roll for breakfast. This was the plane food at its worst time if I am sincere. Food flying to Australia with Etihad was much better. They offered us a drink throughout the flight and we had to constantly ask for anything else we wanted. There was nothing special in this flight at all.

Abu Dhabi Airport

We only had an hour or so before our final flight home to England. It was the time of lunch and we were hungry after eating so badly on the plane. First stop, Burger King. I know it is not very healthy, but, for some strange reason, I was craving a real chicken. Emma did not like her hamburger, so I ended up eating a hamburger and a half. I was stuffed. However, I did not bothered me, since I was not worried about another portion of chicken and rice.

Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow

When we got to the door, the ship had already begun. We were at the back of the plane in zone 4, so we assumed they had called them first, since not everyone was queuing. For some reason, instead of using the automatic doors where you scanned your shipping card you, we went directly to the woman to the left. When he scanned my boarding card, everything got red and simply started it. I was a little surprised at the beginning until, suddenly, a new card was printed and I saw zone 1. we laughed a little, imagine if we had been updated. The lovely lady said: “Lord, she has been updated to the executive class.” The best I heard in a long time, especially because we were in the huge two -story plane.

Emma was worried that he would not also be updated (imagine!) But, of course, he did. We had no idea why this had happened. Did we simply be very lucky or did someone have paid for us to update us? My sister had just sent us a text message saying “you have a relaxing lovely flight” … I mean, nobody has a relaxing flight in the economy.

After walking through a completely separate tunnel, they showed us our seats with a glass of champagne. While not all passengers were well dressed, suddenly I felt very aware that my shorts had a massive fraud and my coaches had recently developed a hole and they were no longer exactly white. It did not belong to the executive class.

We quickly familiarize ourselves with our new seats that were essentially cabins with a huge touch screen television and a completely reclined massage seat (so much that I could go to bed). However, the best thing was the butlers, with their white suits and fabrics on their arms, being at hand with everything you would like from the menu at any time. When taking our order for the main food, I asked how everything worked. The answer was “you can have anything at any time. There are no rules.” How good is that!

The flight was delayed about half an hour, but, honestly, it could not have imported less.

As soon as we took off, our Order of Peroni and Vodka and Coca Cola was delivered and that was practically the standard of the rest of the flight. Unfortunately for me, I was not so hungry after King Burger. The only time in my life that I wanted to be hungry to try everything in the menu. I settled for an Arab mezón to begin followed by beef, puree and elegant vegetables! I couldn’t fit anything else, but I struggled through a few mouths of cheese and cookies. There was so much food that I lost, including a meat sandwich, cheese and cheese cake!

The flight was so comfortable that I didn’t even feel he was looking back. I saw two other films and even managed to sleep a little. In a short time, we were making our offspring in London. All the family views of The Shard, St Paul’s and the Houses of Parliament were incredible from the air. Maybe I had missed England after all!

I strongly recommend executive class with Etihad at least once in your life, although the price is sufficient to discourage almost all. I am very happy to have managed to obtain the update for free, since I would probably never have been able to pay it. However, I’m not sure I can return to the flying economy …
