This is a photographic collection of hands that support cigarettes from around the world.
Like many other photographers, I have thousands and thousands of photographs in recent years, especially since I fell in love with Fujifilm X-T2 and now my Fujifilm X-T5. I have photographs of quiet days in the house during Covid-19, from family trips by distance and road travel through Australia.
Over the years, I have developed my own travel and street photography style and, often, I concentrate on underlying issues no matter where I am. Therefore, this publication focuses on one of those issues of photographs that I have collected in recent years. It may sound strange but a lot in a line similar to those that collect albums (I also do this), commercial cards or comics, I have found ‘collecting similar photographs that have the same underlying theme.
Now, I’m not trying to romantize smoking at all. I do not smoke and I don’t do any of my family either, but I have found this collection, simply from my hands holding cigarettes, one of my favorite photographs series. Especially when I look forward, I am anxious to go out to add to my very small collection.
Like my series ‘The Monochrome Cities’ and ‘On The Streets’, I will start creating more publications that cover ‘collections’, I already have some ideas, so look at this space! Over time, each of the publications will be updated as a photograph worthy of being included. However, don’t wait for any shinies …
