2023: One year in review

Another year below and I am here to summarize the year that was 2023!

The time has come for another of these publications that look back in the previous 12 months with me trying, often badly, to try to summarize everything that has happened in a short publication and share some of my favorite photos of the year.

For anyone who wants to take a look for time, I will link the previous years below. We have already passed beyond the 19 -year -old (although someone else has been as sick as in 2023?), So I hope that the optimism of 2018 and 2019 returns soon.

2019: a year in review

2023

Last year it will always be difficult to overcome, since he saw the arrival of my beautiful girl, but I loved seeing her growing for 2023. Evelyn turned one in February and has become a shameless, intelligent child often hilarious. She keeps us alert, but 2023 has been everything about Evelyn. Ah, and a little trip, of course!

Let’s talk about trips. FINALLY. We left this country for the first time in 4 years with a family vacation to Faro in Portugal. It turns out that I still love to travel and I really ended up visiting eight different countries; Four of which I have never visited before! Portugal, Cyprus, Germany, Lithuania, Ireland, Croatia and Montenegro.

Evelyn has also been an absolute star to travel. He already visited four countries before the age of two, so I hope he doesn’t care that his two crazy parents take it to wild adventures worldwide. Maybe it’s time to start planning the honeymoon back to Australia and New Zealand …

In addition to traveling, to be fair, we have not done too much, although it still seems that it has been a manic year. It probably has something to do with my work, but I am trying not to think if I need something a bit different yet.

However, did I ever tell you that I played in a band when I lived in York? Probably not, but after 5 years, we all met last Christmas and promised to return to the practice room and eliminate some old classics. Well, that was very good and on the strings he saw a return to the stage with an EP of 7 clues written and recorded more A Christmas version of ‘2 Become 1’ by the Spice Girls Launched a few weeks ago. I guess this year was extremely creative!

My highlights of 2023

Our first family vacations for Faro
A return to Cyprus
Failing in the 365 photography challenge
Trees in Tughall for Emma’s birthday
Cycling through Lithuania
Working with Visit Sicily
12 months of Fujifilm X-T5

The year as a travel blogger

Last year I returned to WordPress from Squarespace and, as I anticipated, things have gone force again in Jamiechanchravels. In retrospect, I should not really have changed to Squarespace in the first place, since it struggled all the growth in the site, but we live and learn.

Things have gone so well that I have continued working with tourism boards and airlines that have taken three press trips abroad; Portugal, Lithuania and Sicily. I still don’t think it’s over how my hard work has been worth it. If you had told me that when I started this blog that one day I would visit other countries as part of a press trip or a trip paid with an airline, I would never have believed you. I have also met some lovely people through these trips; It is great to be part of this community, although I think it may need to connect a little more to get my face!

Like every year, my goal has been to publish 52 publications in the year, which will always be incredibly difficult together with my full -time (and very stressful) work. I am at 49 (including this publication), so a great final impulse and I will have achieved my goal for the first time.

Finally, in terms of visits to the page, we are looking to finish the year in around 155,000 views that are crazy; Around a 20% increase since 2022. In 2018, it was 15,000 and by 2020 it was 80,000. I need to keep hard work, there is no doubt about that. Let’s see what it brings next year!

My five most popular publications of 2023

It is always the same when I look at my five most popular publications of the year; They are always related to photography, so maybe that tells me something. The views of my travel guides have increased in general since last year, which is a good sign and consistently have relatively good numbers. My five most popular 2023 publications are:

My 2021 Fujifilm Jpeg configuration
My Fujifilm X-T5 JPEG configuration
Fujifilm’s Classic Chrome for Travel Photography
The classic negative film simulation at the Fujifilm X-T5
A look at the simulation of classical negative film at the Fujifilm X-T2

What follows?

Personally, it is more of the same. It is about family life and my professional life as a lawyer. There is a mortgage and invoices to pay, so I fear that we will not risk great as we did in 2017 when we moved to Australia …

Unfortunately, the blog has never been the first, but I will, every time you find fragments of free time, continue to publish as much frequency as possible. I know what can happen with constant publication, it is just a case of search time.

Thanks to all those who have read my publications during the last year, whether it is a visitor for the first time or a usual reader. The world really means for me!

Health

Jamie
