Whether I am looking for a small relaxed coastal city or a base to explore west Sicily, Trapani has it covered! This is my brief guide about the best things to do in Trapani and the region in general.
After spending four nights in Palermo, Trapani was a very welcome respite and needed the relentless nature of the beloved capital of Sicily. Immediately after the arrival, Trapani had an obviously soothing atmosphere and perhaps without pretensions as if he knew that the time spent to Trapani is exactly what each Visitor of Sicily requires.
The coastal city is only small, with less than 70,000 people living there, but comes with a global reputation to provide part of the best sea salt. It is the perfect city to get lost in its historical streets, eat some of the best regional cuisine that Sicily has to offer and stay if he plans to explore more than what is offered in western Sicily.
Now we are going to immerse ourselves and let me guide it through my most outstanding aspects of the best things to do in Trapani.
I visited Sicily as part of a press trip with Visit Sicily, however, all opinions and opinions below are mine.
The best things to do in Trapani
Storic Center
Welcome to the Historic Center of Trapani. Based on a small peninsula, the labyrinth of lovely streets can be easily explored in one afternoon. This compactness lends to take a slow vagabon just letting life happen to him. With the soft golden tones of the sun that leaked through the streets and alleys of Trapani, I observed the Sicilian families that had conversations in balconies and groups of friends who were heading to their night drinks. It could have wandered indefinitely.
The main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, is full of hip bars, restaurants and small stores (including a beautiful bookstore), all elevated by the baroque buildings and the city’s cathedral (Cattedrale di San Lorenzo). Arrow Straight Street almost perfectly takes the majestic Senatorio de Palazzo to obtain excellent opportunities to take photos. Yes, this is the City Council!
While Trapani is full of impressive architecture, a particular building that stood out for me was the Art Nouveau building that houses the city’s post office. It is worth more than a detour to enter and witness the interior; Not every day you will see a post office that works as impressive as this. I imagined almost immediately inside a Wes Anderson movie.

Quiesa Delle Anime Sante del Purgatory
It turns out that this impressive church is quite famous. Each Passover, one of the oldest religious festivals in the country, the processor of the lingion, takes place without stopping for a period of 24 hours. The passion of the history of Christ is told through twenty different ‘lords’; Groups of statues prepared by experts. Each group of statues is carefully transported by different groups of workforce throughout the city, such as fishermen or teachers, for example. I think a return trip to Trapani in Easter is firmly on cards to see how this show takes place!

Tramontana Mura
For you Passeggiata (A traditional Italian night ride), go to the Mura de section, a 1 km stretch of the old walls of the Spanish city, where you can walk until the end of Trapani’s saliva with the sea on each side of you.

City beaches
Let’s be realistic, you will not find the best Sicily beaches here in Trapani. However, Spyggia delle Mura Di Tramontana is a thin beach that is under the old walls of the city and is an excellent option for a few cold hours to sunbathe or see the tide.
Spiaggia Di San Giuliano is one of the best Trapani beaches, much more suitable for a full day on the beach if that is what you feel like.

Local Trapas Kitchen Party
Ah, we all know that Italian and specifically Sicilian cuisine is out of this world. There are many dishes that I would consider ‘eaten’ when they visit Sicily, some of which can only be found here in Trapani. We are talking about couscous fish and pesto alla trapana, a tasty pasta dish with pushA long spiral paste that goes back to the 10th century, combined with almonds, tomatoes, garlic, basil and grated pecorino.
A great place to devour local trapanese cuisine and other typically Sicilian dishes is in Angels. For the dessert, it can be none other than gelato (or brioche with gelato if you don’t need another food) and Trapani’s best offer is in Men Tredici Gelateria.

Villa Regina Margherita
The public garden of Trapani, Villa Regina Margherita, is a charming area to relax, read a book and perhaps look for a respite from Sol Sicilian soldier. You will find centenary ficus trees, banana plants and palm trees along with ducks and geese. If you travel with children, the recreation courtyard will occupy the little ones for a while.

Saltina Trapani
Trapani and the coastal region to its south are famous during the production of salt of centuries. Part of the best sea salt in the world will have, and still, it will come from pans that extend from Trapani to Marsala.
He Via del Sale (Salt Road) It is a unique set of bicycle and roads routes that will carry it through the reserves of nature with pink flamenco, a salt museum located in a 17th -century mill and, of course, beyond hundreds of pans that, if chronicle, will be completely coastal as if there had been an extra snowstorm or surrounded by pyramids after the harvest. Picimos by bicycle along this same path and the landscape was simply beautiful, especially if you continue to Marsala with its world -fame vineyards.

Further
The Egadi Islands
If you spend more than one night in the city, then, without a doubt, you must visit at least one of the Egadi Islands; Favignana, Levanzo and Maretimimo. Favignana is the most popular with its mountain landscape, virgin beaches and crystalline waters. There are regular trapani ferry services and the crossing will only take approximately thirty minutes.
ERICE
Erice is a medieval town (complete with a castle) that rises on Trapani and all the western scopes of Sicily; It is one of the most popular places to visit in Sicily for a good reason. Go to the cable car for the return of 9.50 or, if you love the picturesque mountain roads, it is only fifteen minutes by trapani car.
Zingaro Natural Reserve
The original Sicily Natural Reserve can be found in Zingaro, about fifty minutes by Trapani car, which makes it perfect for a one -day excursion. You will find an impressive 7 km walk (a meaning) with views that are insurmountable and isolated coves with crystalline waters to cool off. If you need more convincing, this is my guide to visit the Zingaro Natural Reserve with many more inspiring photos.
A good place to stay in Trapani
Vittoria hotel
While we were in Trapani, we stayed in the Vittoria hotel that had a typically Sicilian design with clean, spacious and comfortable rooms, in addition to a modern bath, possibly the largest shower I have been. The hotel is opposed to the Regina Margherita and is just a short walk from the bustling streets of the Storic Center of Trapani.
