13 bright things to do in Tynemouth

[ad_1]

Tynemouth is a surprising jewel on the coast of the Northeast, which makes it a must for both the premises and for those of farther. To help inspire your next trip, these are the most incredible things in Tynemouth.

For those of us the luck of living in the northeast of England (yes, you read it well), Tynemouth is one of those places that is difficult not to love. You will find virgin gold beaches, resistant cliffs, a ruins and some of the best independent coffee shops, restaurants and boutique shops. Once Tynemouth visits, he will soon understand why this city constantly makes the list of ‘better places to live’ of Sunday Times.

While many of us could only dream of living here, Tynemouth is still the perfect place to visit, either during the day or for the whole weekend. I love it and I’m almost sure you’ll do it too!

My favorite things to do in Tynemouth

Tynemouth market

Starting things is probably my favorite thing in Tynemouth completely and we regularly visited just to walk through this excellent market. Every Saturday and Sunday, between 9 am and 3:30 pm, the Tynemouth market appears just inside the beautiful Victoriana subway station and presents hundreds of extravagant stalls and street food offers. Think of antiques, collectibles, retro games and ceramics and local prints along with local street food merchants such as Acropolis (Greek food), Ouseburn Coffee CO and others where you can get a Tikka chicken wrap (unreal Fyi) or Bratwurst. He is also friendly for dogs!

Tynemouth and Priory Castle

Tynemouth Castle & Priory is probably the greatest and most popular attraction of Tynemouth and is very difficult to lose! The historical ruins of the castle and the priorate rise from the promontory and can be seen along the coast if you head north or south. The English heritage now manages the site where you can walk through the ruined buildings and admire the views of King Edwards or on the other side of the Tyne River. It is said that here there were one of the largest fortified areas in all of England, although it did not prevent the Danes would loot more than one occasion. Tynemouth’s coat of arms still has reference to the three kings of Northumbria who are buried in the castle and the priorate.

Longsands Beach and King Edwards Bay

It is no secret that the northeast has some of the most beautiful beaches in the country and both Longsands Beach and King Edwards Bay have to live up to the best. Longsands Beach and its gloriously golden sand extend from Tynemouth to Cullercoats. It is a blue and perfect flag beach for the summer construction sand days with sauces in the sea, as well as the winter days that blow the cobwebs. Dogs are allowed in the low season and are not surprised to see strips of surfers who challenge the North Sea regardless of the weather. Be attentive to the imminent renewal of the Tynemouth outdoor pool! We come for you Bondi Beach!

King Edwards Bay is equally beautiful with his smallest beach protected by senior cliffs and Tynemouth ‘priory. If you are a fish lover, try Riley fish t -shirt Below on the beach itself; It is one of the best huts of Condé Nast Beach for a good reason.

Tynemouth Surf Cafe / Brackburger

You will find Tynemouth Surf Cafe in the big parade with a view to the Longsands beach and you will have difficulty spending without wanting to look like beer and enjoy those beautiful views. Coffee has now been associated with the legends behind Brackburger, so I recommend heading here for some of the best hamburgers in Northeast! My favorites are the BBQ Boss (an abused onion ring of Newcastle Brown Ale) and some of his chicken hamburger with milk serum.

Arcade Green Ginger land

Probably the most unique place on this list, The Land of Green Ginger is a shopping room inside an old church where you can find bars, a pizzeria and a large pet store that we always seem to buy something. Be sure to enter and wander.

Tynemouth Lighthouse

The Tyne river mouth is protected by two huge sea walls, a north / a south, and create a perfect place to stretch their legs. Near the previous haven parking, and exactly where I finished the bicycle ride on the coast of the coast 2 in 2015 (in just 2 days), you can walk through the Tynemouth lighthouse.

Tynemouth Park

Before having Evelyn, we had never visited Tynemouth Park, but it’s a great place to visit to keep entertaining children. We played the 18 holes World Adventure (Ok, I admit it, this was for us, not Evelyn, who had not fulfilled one) and there is much more to do; Raga a boat around the Victorian navigation lake, is lost in the labyrinth or rebound in huge inflatable slides. The greenhouse is a great place to replenish with french fish and potatoes or a fish finger sarnie.

So regular cafe

This is the best coffee in Tynemouth no doubt! Jo’s regular coffee can be found in the Tynemouth market on weekends or now in its own surf-vibe store in Percy Park Road. You will find excellent specialized coffee, local candy (hello donuts of proven products) and even CBD offerings also thanks to Karma Coast. You can change oat milk or decaffeinated coffee without additional load too, which is an unexpected touch. There are some seats outside in the small patio that is also friendly for dogs or can be in an indoor stool or simply take a meal to carry and continue exploring.

Deep northern donutas

A new addition to Front Street, Deep North is an independent artisanal donut and a cafeteria that does not disappoint. Everything is made from scratch and, honestly, these are some of the best donuts you can find in the northeast. The sticky caramel pudding is my Toffee flavor and medjol date cheesecake filled and a sauce and butter to butter to butter. I’m not sure there is another way to start one day in Tynemouth!

Longsands fish kitchen

It would be practically impossible to come to the coast without asking for fish and french fries, so why not enjoy the award -winning longsands fish cuisine? You can take your luck (and try your luck with seagulls) or eat, but anyone you choose, you may be sure you will receive high quality products. There is always a tail for a reason! Prices are a bit high, but you get what you pay; Haddock or Cod and Chips will cost him £ 14.50, although a little cheaper if he takes.

TOAST

Toast, another relatively new addition to the Tynemouth Foodie scene, is a high quality bakery, come for breakfast, where each table comes with its own toaster. Yes, it is true, you can never complain about the burned toast again. Open to visit only from Thursday to Sunday, you will not feel disappointed with coffee or cakes or none of the newly baked mass breakfast offerings.

Due North Menswear / Ruby & Frank Ladies Wear

Located just one next to the other, these two independent boutiques are excellent if you are humorous for some clothing purchases. I could have spent a fortune on what was Flamingo & Finch (now Due North) that stores brands such as Passenger, Makia and other radar labels. I just ended up buying a shirt and a hat, but I could have bought the entire store! If you are looking for something a bit more local, you will find a load of t -shirts that show popular local points and references.

Tynemouth Aquarium

This is one for those with children and will certainly keep the little busy for a few hours. The aquarium is open every day from 10 am and there are a variety of different talks and foods that you can experience; The stamp show at 12 pm is the highlight. It is just a small aquarium, but you will still see many underwater creatures, including sharks and reef rays. Evelyn loved her first experience of an aquarium here; I was hypnotized! It costs £ 16.25 for a day ticket for adults, £ 11.50 for a child up to 12 years and children under 3 are free.

Get here/parking

In a weekend, if you arrive early in the morning (what I would always recommend), go to Background Hurfes Parking I just passed the Tynemouth priororate and you can expect free car parking that is incredible. We also parked for free a Sunday behind the Tynemouth Aquarium here If you are looking to explore first from the northern edges.
