5 five -year lessons of travel blogs

[ad_1]

I can’t believe that five years have passed since I started my travel blog. It has not been an easy way, but I am here to share my five five -year lessons of travel blogs!

Five years ago, in 2017, he had recently landed in Australia. Five years ago (well, a little) I started Jamiechanchravels as a means to document the trips of my wife and I through Australia and later in Southeast Asia. As I am sure that each travel blogger says, it was only destined to be an easy way to keep friends and family updated and have a place to share my photos.

Fast advance five years, I return to work as a full time, I have a little girl and I am more busy than ever. My travel blog, sometimes, has been careless, but I love writing and sharing my photograph, so there is no way to stop me now.

I have made many mistakes in my travel blog career and I will always be the opinion that there is something else that should be doing. However, I thought about writing this publication to share my five five -year lessons of travel blogs to help others who just start or need a small advice from time to time.

My five five -year lessons of travel blogs

Be consistent

This is probably the biggest lesson I have learned. I have always wondered how people grow their travel blogs so fast, but the key is to be consistent; Keep writing, keep taking pictures and keep publishing. I’ve been very Inconsistent in the last five years, mainly due to working full time as a child protection lawyer and adapting to life in/after Covid-19. Things have always been relatively good in Jamiechanchravels and things are improving with recent press trips paid and record opinions. Guess what I give that: publish consistently. Whether every two days, once a week or once a month, readers want to see their regular content.

Don’t be afraid of spending money

Not everyone has this opportunity, but one of my greatest regret for my travel blog career has not been investing in the blog, as for quality accommodation or essential accessories. I have definitely spent enough money on photography teams, but now I discover that you definitely get what you pay.

After migrating the return site to WordPress from Squarespace, I initially returned to Sybower for accommodation and still experienced problems with the speed of the site and the vital of the central website (key to SEO). Now I have spent some serious money to house with Rocket.net And, for the first time, I am very happy with what I am seeing. I am spending Vitals web finally and together with a storage complement in paid cache, I see results in the number of views that I am obtaining.

Honestly, don’t be afraid to spend money. I am of the opinion that the more you put, both in terms of effort and finance (unfortunately), the more you will recover! However, I would say that you must be careful, since there will certainly be many scams and the ‘courses’ are not always the best things to spend money.

Grant in your blog, not on social networks

You will have seen many bloggers, both in the travel niche and beyond, say that you should always concentrate on your blog instead of social networks. When I started, while paying attention to that, I couldn’t help spending a lot of time on Instagram and then Twitter and then returned to Instagram.

First, it seems more difficult than ever growing a social networks account these days, especially when its content is not shown to all its followers, and any follow -up that it created can change in an instant if the social media company changes its algorithm. This happened to me in 2017 with Instagram: I had 5,000 followers who grew daily with my images obtaining more than 1,000 I like when almost during the night it didn’t work anymore. It was not for me (although it definitely hits you self -confidence), but my social networks have never really recovered.

Instead, you must spend your time working on your travel blog. I wish I would have spent much more time in recent years than I had, since I love to see the progress that you know is due to your own hard work. In addition, remember this, your travel blog is the only thing you really have.

Have confidence in yourself

This. Only this.

I do not have much confidence or belief in what I do or what I am capable of. I know that my photograph is good and that they regularly tell me that what I publish is also good. However, there is always that doubt of the highway every time I share something. I guess because blogs and blogs are usually very personal.

Stop comparing yourself to others

I think this leads directly to the previous lesson. You do not need to be constantly compared to others, since doing so will affect your self -confidence, which in turn will be harmful to your blog. I don’t mind inspiring myself (that is, Wow, X Blogger has just been approved for Mediavine, I need to work harder), but I am trying not to constantly compare myself with others.

Finally, I would only say that it will continue to be you, keep doing what you do and success (whatever it means to you) will come. For me, I would love, like many others, to create a travel blog that would allow me to be financially stable and allow me to do this to make a living. I will continue working and continue to improve to see if I can approach that goal.

If you had told me five years ago that I would still be traveling on blogs, I would be making money in doing so and would have thousands of views a month, there is no way to believe you.

Anyway, thanks to all those who have visited my blog. Here are the next five years!
