This publication is a few years old now, so it has definitely needed some update. It was the first of my publications focused on simulations of separate Fujifilm films and what better place to begin with Astia; What I call the most versatile films simulations.
I have been filming JPEG with my Fujifilm X-T2 since 2018 and, more or less that time, I used Astia above all. I have used my personalized JPEG recipe based on Astia through my trips, for weddings, for families and even for corporate shots. If you are looking for soft colors that complement a wide range of scenes, Fujifilm Astia is indicated.
Fast progress until 2022, Astia has been shot down to second place by the classic Chrome. I can’t stop using the Chrome classic and, the more I use it, the more I feel that it has become my style. I saw a new comment from someone new to use Fujifilm’s JPEG configuration around how you accommodate only one configuration; I have many years of proof and error in my classic Chrome recipe. The classic Chrome is essentially me.
However, I know that not everyone will come out with the classic Chrome, the most sandy look of life and in my life there is still a moment and a place for the simulations of Astia movies. Astia forms the base of my color images for weddings often changing it if a situation requires a little more “happiness.” I don’t know if that is the right way to describe it, but I hope you know what I mean!
All images below use my ‘Astia Travel’ configuration in the Fujifilm X-T2, although some will definitely be the RAW version since I have reissued many of my previous trip photos (a benefit of firing RAW in the first days) to put them more in line with my current style.
If JPEG is not yet shooting and has a Fujifilm camera, mark some configurations now, since I am sure it will transform its photography perspective.

‘Astia Travel’ configuration
For JPEG simulation, mark this configuration, but do not hesitate to change the name: it should not be limited only to travel situations:
-
FS Astia
-
Grain
-
WB Auto +1 Network
-
The highlight -1
-
Shadow +2
-
Color +2
-
Sharpness+2
-
NR -4
I will always try to obtain the greatest “reason” in the camera as possible, including the exhibition, but I always apply additional processing when importing my images to Litghtroom. The prejustment I use is +10 contrast, clarity +15, a slight curve s and a vignette -5.
I have had so many requests to share the Lightroom configuration that I use for unprocessed files, so this is what I use. It will probably not be a perfect combination (my mantra at this time seems to be better is better) but I am happy with that:
-
Contrast +10
-
The highlight +16
-
Shadows +7
-
White +29
-
Blacks -47
-
Texture +10
-
Clarity +35
-
Saturation +20
-
Green Luminance +34
-
Sharp +65, radio 1.0, detail 10, masking 30
-
Vignette -5
Now I don’t think I have anything to say and instead of wandering, let’s see some photos with the Astia movie simulation of Fujifilm marked.
