This is my visual guide for street photography in Tokyo; The extensive metropolis full of bright lights, modern skyscrapers, peaceful parks and, well, almost everything. Tokyo is different from any other city on Earth and photo opportunities are everywhere!
We have covered Osaka and Kyoto in my Japanese edition of my series ‘On the streets’ and now it is the moment of the main event; Tokyo The capital of Japan, the largest city in the world, a place that for a long time I have dreamed of visiting and capturing with my camera.
My series ‘On The Streets’ takes us through the world with short publications focused only on my unique travel and street photography style. The series will never be complete, but here is a look where I have covered so far:
Ok, now is the time for a virtual vagabundo through the streets of Tokyo. This is my opinion about street photography in Tokyo with Fujifilm X-T5.

The details
We spent eight nights in Total in Tokyo, although three of them were in Tokyo Disney Resort. We traveled with our little daughter, so, of course, we had to let her experience Disney’s magic for the first time. However, do not worry, I know that you are not here to see Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disneysea through my lens (but if it is, I will share some images soon in a separate publication!), So we will stay with the beautiful streets of Tokyo.
Visiting Tokyo arrived at a time when we were lagging a little after spending a week in Osaka and Kyoto. We knew that Tokyo would be great, but he was honestly at another level. Many of our plans went out the window, being too optimistic, especially when we had to serve a child as well. I will spend some time in the future establishing exactly what we did and the complete guides, but, for now, at least my prominent aspects were to pass early in the mornings in Meiji Jingu with the light that is filtered through the trees, walks through omotesing (probably my favorite tokyo area) and treating the interior geek in me in akihabara.
A warning, I have not managed to approach my photos of Japan, so I think about this as a collection of photos not completely complete of our time in Tokyo. In addition, it was far from the family, so the images are really snapshot of our daily explorations instead of having time to focus specifically on photography. I will add more photos when I have the opportunity!
In the streets: Osaka
In the streets: Kyoto
As I said in my two previous publications, my two upper lenses used to capture Tokyo were the Fujifilm of 18-55 mm f/2.8-4 and the Fujifilm 35 mm f/1.4 but the Fujifilm 50-140 mm f/2.8 really was taken into account when it was on the sky of Shibuya. Ah, and yes, taking a huge heavy teleobjective on a family trip was not the best of ideas, but the images I captured during the two weeks were worth it!
You can find a detailed publication about everything I took to Japan right here!
All color shots are JPEG, practically directly from Fujifilm X-T5, with my classical negative recipe. I used raw + jpeg, which meant that I could turn each image into my acros recipe and see Japan into glorious black and white.
