In terms of kitchen, Singapore food has developed through many different influences, including different influences, such as Chinese, Indian and Malaysian. No matter how long or short your stay in Singapore, you must try the local food that can be an activity in itself! As soon as I got to this incredible country, I investigated as much as I could see what I should eat. After much thinking, here are the best 5 things to eat in Singapore; According to me.
1. Kaya toast and soft boiled eggs
This is the traditional Singapurense breakfast and which you will find back every day. It is a very simple dish that consists of roasted bread on embers, extended with coconut jam and two slices full of thick butter. Delicious.
Now, where eggs enter this, I really do not know, but I have heard that some people immerse the toast in the eggs. I’m not sure if that really happens, but I know you wouldn’t catch me doing that. Even if I try to eat like a place; I have limits. I discovered that I first ate the eggs (like a main dish) followed by the toast.
The only place to try this is in the original Kun Kaya toas In Far East Square, Chinatown.
2. Hong Kong style soy sauce chicken
This is the dish for which Singapore is probably the most famous. In fact, a humble position in a center of street vendors received a Michelin star for this dish. Now it is a tourist destination in itself; Hawker Chan is promoted as Michelin’s cheapest food in the world. I could not include this in a list of 5 things to eat in Singapore.
However, I will go away from here to something a little more authentic. I would never have known about this little position, in the same center as Hawker Chan, if not for a useful place. He explained that Hawker Chan was simply purchased and the company uses its name to develop ‘fast food’ restaurants. The best place to try was a position with a small old woman, in front of the bathrooms, without English signaling. Here was the woman who trained Hawker Chan.
So, if you want to try this dish (and believe me you do), go to the second floor of the center of street vendors and keep your eyes open. Between two, half chicken with rice was a lot of food for around s $ 7. You will see that the chickens hang well in the window already cooked with a bright and brown enamel. As soon as Ordene, that chicken is cut right in front of you and then served with a beautiful sauce. I could have eaten this again and again, it was so good.
However, it arrives early (it opens at 10 am) since there is only a limited number of chickens. Once they are out, the day is over.
3. Satay
Originally from Indonesia, this dish is perfect for lunch or even dinner. The dish consists of marinated meat with cooking tumor on flames. The meat is often chicken, but I have also seen pork like meat Satay next to the bayAsk for pineapple sauce! Around S $ 10 for 15 skewers, you can’t make mistakes!
4. Dulce and sour chicken
Is this Singapurenine food? I’m not sure. All I know is that it is something that would ask my local Chinese conclusion. If you are not eating in Hawker centers while you are in Singapore, you must eat in a food court; As the locals do. In England, if you told me, you have to eat in a shopping courtyard, since it is authentic, I would tell you that you must be joking. I do not want chain food and certainly not that of Frankie and Benny.
However, the buzz of a shopping center in Singapore is something completely different. It is essentially street food stalls just inside a mall. The food is also out of this world with everything to choose from. Of course, not knowing how to read the language made it very difficult to reduce a position, but finally I decided on sweet and sour chicken. I knew it was something I would enjoy. The mistreated chicken with rice and the sauce was beautiful and, somehow, it felt healthier than a version to take at home.
I recommend visiting Millenia Walk for the meal courtyard and try the sweet and sour chicken! Just remember, if you see a pack of scarves on the table, a place has reserved its seat. Ah, and do not discourage you through the robot collection trays …
5. Indian rice food
As I mentioned earlier, Singapore is really a melting pot of many different cultures and kitchens. You will notice that Singapore is divided into different sectors and that one of my favorites is Little India. Here you can experience the authentic Indian food without having to visit India itself (although it probably also wants to do it).
This is one for vegetarians. Up in Komala Vilas You can ask for a rice meal that basically contains many vegetable sauces and curry along with rice. The authentic food from southern India does not resemble your chicken Korma or Tikka Massala, but it is beautiful in its own way. You will also want to try the onion bhajis that are exceptional.
If you were not hungry before, I’m sure you’ll be now! In my opinion, these are the best 5 things to eat in Singapore. Not only are they really tasty, they are also really cheap, which is a gift from heaven in Singapore. However, I have probably lost enough of my list, since I was only there for four days.
However, I definitely plan to return, so, if you have any recommendation, let it know in the comments below!
