From a flat target in the flat white to fluffy pancakes with a view to river clothing, this is my guide for the best Durham coffees.
As I explained in this publication gathering the best coffees in Newcastle, I am now a coffee drinker. Now I don’t care about coffee in a coffee with my wife and girl, so it would only be right to see where it is better to go in my hometown adopted. Writing about Durham always reminds me that I need to spend more time in the city, especially, since I only live 10 minutes away.
So, whether it is a usual visitor to the city or someone who seeks to plan a weekend trip, this is my guide for the best Durham coffees.
Durham’s best coffees
Island
Of the creators of coarse, a fantastic gastronomic experience in Durham, you eat Isla, the latest incorporation into my cafes list in Durham. I will say that this is now my favorite place for Brunch in Durham based on a recent visit where food and flat whites left me speechless. I knew that food would be good, but it was really exceptional; Also much better than some of Newcastle’s most famous brunch offerings. I went for the crumpet that presented a giant crumpet, spicy sausages, nduja, fried egg, crunchy onion, garlic mayonnaise and what can only be described as the most decadent crunchy cheese coverage: it filled the entire plate. Other prominent aspects were the French toast and the special croissant; Full of peanut butter, strawberry jam and crunchy pancetta! Evelyn loved her little granola and yogurt from the Kids menu that had three separate bowls to mix; The granola, vanilla yogurt and Durham honey and a strawberry and raspberry compote.
From Wednesday to Saturday, from 12 pm to 5 pm, you can order from the small plates menu that I cannot wait to try. The food offered reminds me of horticulture, the oven or the small little one in Newcastle: think of biñones and pineapple ketchup; Crushed jerseys, ‘nduja and Garlic Mayo; Cheese croquettes, beer onion and mustard mayonnaise, as well as some epic sharing dishes.
If you are looking for the best brunch in Durham, this is all (in my humble opinion).

Vennels coffee
Hidden in the venias in the heart of Durham, you will find Vennels Café in the historic 16th -century building. It is believed that from within the English mustard of the building as we know it today was invented by Mrs. Clements in 1720! Vennels is very popular among the students of the University of Durham for a good reason. You have to order at the counter, so you will undoubtedly try to take a look and look at people while waiting in the tail to see what is offered. There are many sandwiches, homemade cakes and baked jacket potatoes along with many sweets. Coffee is also friendly with dogs with sausages offered for your spongy friends!

Flat white kitchen
Without a doubt, this is Durham’s most popular coffee you will often find a tail of people outside waiting for an elusive table. The flat white kitchen offers great coffee (Ouseburn Coffee CO) and excellent Brunch options; The avocado in the toast of the mother dough is obviously available, but there are also the ricotta pancakes and baked eggs. Decoration is probably better described as a rustic boho: flat white cuisine would not look out of place in Australia. Flat White Café is the sister cafeteria, inside the same building, but agreed to the back near the Elvet bridge.

Leonard Coffee House
I feel that Leonard’s is an adequate hidden jewel and probably my favorite coffee in Durham after tripping with her in Fowler’s courtyard. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, this is a small cozy and friendly coffee, where you will find cakes and homemade buns, breakfast and a good selection of drinks. On my first visit, I went with a quite standard flat white, but there is a lot to choose from; Hot chocolates look incredible.

Cafédral Durham
You will find Cafédal Durham at the corner of Saddler Street and Owengate just before starting your final rise to the cathedral. It is the building with a lot of vegetation outside and also both inside. The buns are famous here with them just made every day. If any left, it is great to know that the leftover food is given to homeless people. In terms of drinks, it is a coffee with salty caramel milk for me, but I like to try the caramel cappuccino!
Biz-R cafeteria
This time another independent cafeteria in Durham along the Riverwalk with perfect views towards the castle. The carrot cake is recommended highly recommended as well as paninis! A perfect place to relax in the city when everywhere takes long.
River kitchen
Another outstanding point of any visit to Durham is to order the most spongy pancakes of riverserview kitchen and admire the view from the Framwellgate bridge. The pancakes of Nutella and Strawberry are obviously a classic, but you will find something for everyone. Riverview Kitchen is also friendly for dogs, so it is a perfect ending for those who roam the riverbaches with their dogs.

There is no doubt about many more places I need to visit in Durham and I’m sure I will get everyone soon. For now, although the above is what Durham’s best coffees would consider at this time.
I would love to know what you think: have you visited any and have a favorite or now you are planning your next trip?
