Hotel review: Kimpton ClockTower Hotel in Manchester

[ad_1]

This is my review of one of Manchester’s most emblematic hotels; The Kimpton ClockTower Hotel.

I have been waiting to write this publication as soon as I stepped on the foot in the Kimpton ClockTower Hotel in Manchester For me 32nd birthday. Without a doubt, this hotel has shot directly to be one of my favorite hotels that I have had the pleasure of visiting. This was my first visit to Manchester in around 6 years and our first appropriate trip after things calmed down a little with the pandemic, so we wanted to make sure we choose a half decent place to stay. At the Kimpton ClockTower hotel, we arrived at a place that exceeded our expectations.

Kimpton ClockTower Hotel

We made the decision to drive Manchester instead of taking the train, but the hotel was ideally located for any city visitor. The hotel does not have its own parking lot, but there is a Q Park and NCP very close. If you arrive by train, you will please notice that Oxford Road Station is literally opposite. It is ten minutes on foot in the center of Manchester and I found it perfectly positioned to explore the city.

Even before arriving at the hotel, you can immediately see the iconic clock tower that rises on the horizon. The grade II building dates back to 1890 and you will be surprised by the incredible Victorian architecture. This is one of the most famous buildings in cities and is a red brick building in Manchester that you will never see. The building was originally the headquarters of the refuge guarantee company and the architect, Alfred Waterhouse, was also responsible for creating the National Museum of History in London.

If the outside did not impress you, I can assure you that you will be impressed as soon as you enter. Without a doubt, this is a luxury hotel, but with an avant -garde industrial sensation that probably resonates more with Manchester. The lobby has enormously high roofs, but their eyes will look immediately at the impressive glass dome. Throughout the hotel, you will see walls of Victorian tiles, stained glass and large stairs. It is beautiful wherever you look.

The room

They updated us very kindly to a Junior suite, room number 380, which was practically perfect with its gigantic bed, a living room area and a slippery bath. Okay, it took us some time to find the room first (and then again after some beers) thanks to the labyrinth as runners formed when numerous buildings joined to form the one that houses the hotel today.

Needless to say, we don’t spend too much time in the room with wanting to explore as many Manchester possible. Next time, I am tempted to really push the boat, since I have seen rooms that come with their own headdresses and artists with headquarters in Manchester to relax.

Food and drink at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel

Normally, I would never plan to eat and drink at the hotel; I prefer to find the most extravagant hamburgers and other highly recommended places to eat. However, there are not many places in the country that house a restaurant and a bar very like here.

Before letting me leave the jewel in the hotel crown, I have to highlight the purely bright idea of the night social time at 6pm that offers complementary drinks (beer/wine) and enormously informative conversations with the staff about the history of the building. It is a lovely touch that made me fall in love even more from the hotel.

Ok, I’m ready. Let me introduce you The Volta shelter. The 10,000 square feet of it.

The shelter is divided into three separate areas; The public bar, the winter garden and the dining room. There is also a den with a private bar, pool table and table football! The winter garden is a beautiful conservatory full of trees and tile floors where you can have breakfast or afternoon tea. The public bar is, well, incredible and I can’t imagine many better places in England for a cold beer. In addition, a bit strange, but the painting glasses were so unique that I ended up finding them online and ordering four to get that feeling of refuge in the home. The dining room is the mosaic wall, its mural of ‘Glamor of Manchester’ together with Victorian cabins and lighting.

Now you have seen the photos, do you agree that this has to be one of the most beautiful bars/restaurants in the United Kingdom? I had never seen something like that before.

Despite the fact that it was 9 pm, beer in me helped me decide that I needed to try as many dishes that were offered as possible. I do not think I said it before, but now I have a new rule when every time we eat out, it is worthwhile, so basically we do not say that nothing we like to try in the menu; Hence the scandalous amount of food we tried to devour. It was my birthday after all.

Our request:

  • Carbonized Puppers Peppers

  • Whipped beet, smoked feta cheese

  • Gochujang chicken wings

  • Shawarma de Cordero

  • Pork chop, Chimichurri, grilled pineapple

  • Salt salt croquettes

  • Pakora beet

  • Triple cooking chips with black garlic Alioli

  • Flat bread

Ok, that’s a lot of correct food. Especially at 9 pm at night; Honestly, I didn’t sleep well. However, we do not regret and we cannot wait to return to Manchester just to eat again in the shelter. I have also seen photos of Sunday dinner so that, without a doubt, it has to be considered on a return trip.

Price

I promise you will be surprised by the cost of this hotel. Okay, we stayed on a Monday night, but it was not as if Manchester was silent, even during the day in the bars and restaurants on Tuesday they were full. The hotel cost us a total of only £ 92 without breakfast, but we got free drinks during the social time. It is also an IHG hotel, so it will win points to stay here if you directly reserve.

Anyway, £ 92 was a robbery for a luxury hotel in the center of Manchester, although I think the price may have increased significantly in recent years! However, I promise that if you plan to stay at the Kimpton ClockTower hotel, it will not disappoint you.

As if you would need more inspiration to visit Manchester, I have gathered a collection of black and white photos of the city as part of my monochromatic series of cities.
