Life moves very fast. If you don’t stop looking at time to time, you could miss it.
Ferris Bueller
The previous appointment is from the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, which premiered in 1986, even before I was born, but the reality is that these words have helped me to make the decision that has changed my life until now. While I feel here and I write this publication, there are less than four weeks left to leave my life as a qualified lawyer and start exploring this world of which we are so lucky to be part.
Who am I?
My name is Jamie Paddock, I am 28 years old and I am passionate about travel, music, photography and, in general, creativity. During the last year, I have focused a lot on travel photography and I have tried to get followers on Instagram. In the first 12 years of my life I lived in five different places, including Cyprus. I still remember our time in Cyprus with pleasant memories of supreme freedom. Coming from the armed forces, I am quite used to the changes and the new environments; Maybe that was what my interest in travel began.
My way until now has taken me from school to sixth grade, from the university to the Law Faculty, to a desk in an office where I have worked during the last six years. Obviously, this is the path that many follow and what they teach us is the “right path” to follow. I set out at age 15 to be a lawyer and that was exactly what I achieved. It is gratifying to know that your work directly helps someone in your need. Sometimes, however, your personal happiness is when you escape from your comfort zone.

The setbacks only make you stronger
Earlier this year, I received the devastating news that I needed hip surgery. I have been having problems for a while but I did my best to ignore them. The operation was quite invasive and will take 12 months to recover completely. I am determined to return stronger than ever. During my initial recovery, I spent a lot of time thinking about where my life was currently and what I expected. I have friends who are married, some have had children and many own their own houses; None of that applies to me and thinking about it, if I’m honest, it scares me a little. Luckily for me, it also scares my partner.
While I was practically prostrate in bed for eight weeks, I read an excellent book, one that I recommend widely. ‘Everything that remains written by Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus; together known as the minimalists. While I will not sell all my belongings or live a minimalist lifestyle, the book helped me make a decision. I had to leave the apparent security of my “career” and see more world for myself. I intend to use this blog as a way out not only for my photograph but also for my writings. Instagram is great, but I always want to add words to give context to the photos. I want to improve and challenge me continuously and, hopefully, my story will inspire someone enough to follow their own dreams.
They are patient with me for a few weeks while I update with the operation of a website; I have never done this before. Be sure to follow me on social networks where you can stay updated.
