One day in Corbridge, Northumberland

[ad_1]

Corbridge is a small and charming city of Northumbrian near Hadrian’s wall full of independent businesses. This is my guide for a day in Corbridge.

Corbridge has long been in my list of places to visit since we settled in Northeast four years ago. Incondanated between the A69 and the Tyne River, Corbridge is less than 20 miles and 30 minutes from Newcastle and is in the first -class Hadrian wall territory. The charming city of Corbridge dates back to Roman times and was one of the two substantial cities on the northernmost edge of the Roman Empire. Quite important then.

However, Corbridge is now a beautiful city full of independent business, such as bookstores, bakeries, pubs and restaurants, all located in the Central Market Square. There is also a beautiful walkway along the Tyne River, so it is perfect for a day excursion (even with the dog, since most places are very friendly for dogs)! If you are planning a visit, this guide is for you, since you will cover the best things to do in Corbridge.

My guide for a day in Corbridge

Bakery subsidies

Gran Bakery is famous in the northeast for producing exceptional cakes, cakes and all kinds of baked products. It would be almost impossible to spend a day in Corbridge without dealing with one or two small treats. I really enjoyed the quiche that was enough to share between two and both the strawberry cake and the Melba peach for which they died; beautiful. It does not matter what time visit, it is very likely that it is in a tail that extends through the door, since Grant Bakery is so popular.

Forum books

Undoubtedly, one of the best northeast bookstores, Forum Books is a winning independent bookstore located in the old Corbridge chapel. I love navigating royal bookstores, bookstores that are proud to be bookstores. Forum Books is beautiful with a fantastic collection that makes a strong case to never want to buy online again. It was Easter when we visited so that we could not read a nice book when we get home.

You can visit the other two places of Forum Books in The Bound in Whitley Bay and the accidental bookstore in Alnwick.

Roman Bridge / River Walk

It must definitely take the time to spend 30 minutes in one hour walking next to the Tyne River when Visit Corbridge. From the main bridge and the main parking lot, it is a quiet walk to the site of the old Roman bridge that allowed Deret to cross the river to the Roman city. More than 300 blocks were excavated and moved to their current site to avoid erosion through the river and, although they don’t seem much now, this was perhaps one of the largest bridges in Britain Roman. With a short walk in his belt, he will undoubtedly doubt an appetite for his time in Corbridge.

The pele

Opposite forum books, in the most picturesque street in Corbridge, you will find the Pelé; A fortified tower where the vicar lived between 1300 and the beginning of the seventeenth century. Now house a small bar where you can drink craft beer and beers (test The scenario is incredible here, it is like somewhere in Game of Thrones or The Last Kingdom

Roman city of Corbridge

The Roman city site of Corbridge belongs to the English inheritance and the streets can be explored for only £ 9.50. There is a museum with a large amount of artifacts of the Roman period, many of which were excavated from here in Corbridge. If you like the story, it is essential to visit the Roman city!

Website

Baby in the bank

Baby at The Bank is an impressive Baby/Nursery store located inside the old bank building. You can expect high quality brands offered here as Liewood, Little Dutch and Ollie Ella. Once upon a time, I would have had no idea of babies brands, but today I am a fan of buying EVELYN Lovely products of the brands that you will find here in Baby at The Bank. The only warning I would say is that the store is closed on Sundays.

Website

Corbridge Angel

Drawed 1569, the angel is a Corbridge institution that offers rooms to stay, tasty food and a lot to drink. You can expect food to be of local and homemade origin; I would settle for Chuck’s hamburger, pork chop or even the Boeuf collection to share for two. The rooms cost approximately £ 140 per night and some are even friendly for dogs if you travel with a spongy partner.
